Part Two: The NORB Review Shotgun Clinic

The NORB.  What can I say?  I really love this bag, it's versatility and durability.  What do I mean by that?  So far I have been able to take it to every shooting activity and it goes along without any issue.  Most recently, I took it to a shotgun clinic I was teaching.  As we were loading and unloading the car, my husband could grab my bag without anything falling out and toss it in the car with all the gear.  No issues.

Since it stands up on it's own, I don't need to worry about getting it to sit upright against my gear without falling down and flopping around everywhere.  Regarding it's durability, I'm not concerned with it tearing or "breaking" while I'm using it.  This is not to say that I take my gear for granted, instead I can use it regularly without worry of destroying it before I've had the chance to really use it.

The fabric is especially forgiving.  Dirt, weeds, whatever it lands in can easily be brushed off without issue.  I am particularly fond of this feature.  It's not something I look for, but I appreciate it when it is the case. I'm looking forward to sharing how the NORB performs at an IDPA match.

Saying Goodbye to Shellie

One of our CCLSC members is moving.  We have loved having her as part of our shooting group.  As a way to say thank you, we'll miss you, keep in touch and good luck we met at a local pizza shop and put together a photo book for her to take to her new home.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Gun Show – October 11 & 12.  I believe they open up at 9:00 am each day.  If you are interested in going, we can all go as a group and meet up outside around 10:00 am.  Please send me a reply of preferred day – Saturday or Sunday.  We will go on the day that works best for the majority of ladies.

Advanced 2 Last Scheduled Date – October 11 Same place, same time ladies.  This will be our last scheduled date for Advanced 2.  I would love feedback of what you thought of the class and anything you think we should improve upon.  Any comments and feedback is appreciated.

Women’s 101/Advanced Pistol – October 16  This is the last class and we all know what that means.  CCLSC meets one more time before this date.  I STRONGLY ENCOURAGE you to take advantage of Monday practice.  If you haven’t been attending, the 6^th might be what you need to improve your shooting.  For those who have been shooting regularly between classes, I commend you!

I would also add that even when the 101 and Advanced pistol classes have ended, please continue to attend Monday’s to improve your skills.  CCLSC offers additional training and events that are not open to members of the public.

CCLSC Paintball Classic – November 2 at The Shack Paintball in Santa Maria.  October 6 is the last date to let me know if you are interested in playing paintball.  We need a group of 10 to reserve equipment to play.  Spouses and family are welcome to join us.  Ages 10+ can play.  If I do not get enough responses, we will postpone to a later date.

CCLSC Meet up – November 3  We will be meeting up after practice for pizza.  If you are interested in meeting up after practice that week, please let me know you’ll be there.

Tank Girls: A CCLSC Photo Shoot

The Ladies of CCLSC took a break from "shooting" for a photo shoot. THANK YOU to our friend John for hosting us that evening and letting us climb all over his WW2 armored vehicle, Brian and Tacti-Cool Guns & Gear, Inc.for all that he does for club. We will always have Monday's

Monday night CCLSC members focused on becoming familiar with different handguns.  Surprisingly, each member owns a different brand of handgun, so this was easy to accomplish.  It was interesting to see how each shooter reacted to the experience and how they preferred different handguns to others.  I believe this variety adds to a shooter’s experience and provides them with the ability to handle different firearms regardless of what they prefer.  In my opinion, it’s a valuable part of shooting.

To further emphasize this experience, we were privileged to be exposed to one of the largest handguns available; the Smith & Wesson 460.  The diameter of the round is not much larger than a 9 mm, but is three times longer and a significant increase in powder. We took a short video of the experience which I will update on the blog in the next few days.

 Our most recent Women's 101 and Advanced Pistol classes have completed and the final class competition revealed a few things.  First, practice makes a dynamic difference in one's performance and confidence. Second, the comradery among CCLSC teammates was evident as each took their turn.  Finally, CCLSC took the top spots in the competition and it wasn't a coincidence.

Practice is important for any sport, hobby or life skill you want to learn and improve upon.  Getting better means that we must raise the bar after every skill we achieve.  The small amount of added pressure as other club members watched when we shoot helps us to perform under pressure.  When someone asks me “how do I shoot better?” you will always hear me answer “practice”.

Memorial Day Event at Tacti-Cool Guns & Gear

This coming Memorial Day, Monday May 26, the BEAST will have some friends on display with her. In honor of our Military and Law Enforcement brothers and sisters we've invited all local agencies to bring out special department vehicles to have on display. We will also have a free BBQ going around noon that day. To thank our local Veterans and Law Enforcement we will be waiving all range fees for them that day too. — at Tacti-Cool Guns & Gear, Inc. Tip of the Week

This week’s tip focuses on keeping a log of your progress.  My method of recording my training is to take photos of each target and save them with a date, distance and round count.  This way I can look back at what I’ve done and calculate the percentage of success.  Below is “my first target” with my latest target and it’s amazing to see the improvement.  How did this happen?  Practice, lots and lots of practice.

a significant improvement.  However, the head shots on the bottom
picture is what I shot this last Monday at 15 yards.

CCLSC Mini Event: Custom Hearing Protection

I want to thank everyone who came out for the custom hearing mini event we hosted yesterday at Tacti-Cool Guns & Gear.  Thank you to Elizabeth and Robert of Ear Assist who traveled from Santa Barbara to provide their services for CCLSC.

In December, I traveled to Santa Barbara to get a pair for myself.  I use them almost every day and the Insta-Mold is very comfortable to wear and does an excellent job at blocking noise in the range and outdoors.

It was great to see everyone get a pair of custom fitted ears and then afterwards hit the range to get some practice in.

for moms/daughters to get together and enjoy a day at the range.

further into the ear canal and causing damage.

Lab molds take a few weeks to create and are made from a
flexible silicone and are expected to last a few years.
